Boys Varsity Track, Girls Varsity Track · PHS Track Make Good at the Region 2-7A Meet

The PHS track teams had a successful Day 1 of the Region 2-7A championship meet. We were able to crown two region field event champions prior to the start of the running events. Mariah Davis became a 2-time region champion by clearing 6’6” in the girls pole vault. Justin Swann earned a region championship by jumping 43’9.25” in the final round of the boys triple jump. Congrats Mariah and Justin!

The top 4 places in each field event earned a spot in the sectional meet on May 4th at Archer High School.

Justin also earned a sectional meet spot by placing 4th in the boys long jump, while Quincey Miller earned a sectional meet spot in the boys shot put by placing 3rd with a throw of 44’4”.

The rest of the day was spent running the preliminary heats of the running events. The PHS Falcons had a successful day with runners earning spots in Saturday’s finals.

200 Meters – Kibren Moore, Christopher Rogers, Jr, Cerenity Daise, and Kamaria Bryant
400 Meters – Badi Varner, Cerenity Daise, and Selena Shipp
800 Meters – Justin Swann, Josh Bellinger, and Shyelle Davenport
4×100 Meter Relay – The boys and girls A-team relays both qualified for Saturday’s finals.
300 Meter Hurdles – Cam Hall

The finals of the running events will take place at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 20 at Newnan High School.
