It may have been a long drive to North Cobb High School in Kennesaw, home of the Warriors but for the Pebblebrook Lady Falcons it was well worth it. With only 6.3 seconds remaining in the first round of the GHSA Class 2-7A girls basketball state playoffs, Milana Holmes’ free throw gave the Falcons a 40-39 victory .
The Falcons trailed 34-23 with five and a half minutes remaining in the fourth quarter but outscored the Warriors 17-6. “It seemed like a whirlwind because we were down by 11 but there were still five or six minutes left,” Pebblebrook coach Brittny Jones told AJC Sports . “That’s not the first time we’ve down by 10-plus in the fourth quarter, so we’ve been tested and tried,” she admitted. “North Cobb is a great program. We knew it was going to be tough. Every game that we’ve played them has been a low-scoring game. It’s just great teams battling it out.”
Milana Holmes finished with 17 points, 9 rebounds, two assists and two steals. Jalicia Bass finished with 10 points, 9 of those points were from 3-pointers. She also had two rebounds, two assits and two steals for the Lady Falcons.
